September is now well underway and it is almost time for our annual Members Club Closing Scramble. It will be a fun day of golf, food and prizes to celebrate our 2022 members. Registration is now open for the first 72 players register.

The matches will start Saturday Sept 10th at the Stratford Country Club with the conclusion and singles matches on Sunday Sept 11th at the Muni starting at 9:00am.
Men’s League!!
Our 2022 Men’s League has now completed. Congratulations to our 2022 Champions Putt Putt Pass!! I am still working on the gift card payouts for everyone but should have it done in the coming days. Please check in with the Pro shop staff to see if your team claimed a winning spot and to pick up your gift card.
Course Construction
This past week we have seen the install of new drainage around the course. This drainage will help immensely in wet seasons keeping our course playing condition and carts on the course more often. Today we will see these trenches hydro seeded for regrowth. We will do our best to mark all the trenches but we need players to keep off these sections with carts, pull carts and to avoid walking on them. On hole 4 and 8 we will create a passage with signage and but the rest will be up to players remaining off so we can have grass back healthy and fast.

This past weekend we saw our Ladies Club Championship/Invitational. It was a great day with over 50 ladies participating in either the 18 hole Championship or the 9 hole fun day.
Congratulations to Jean Roach on winning the Ladies Championship and to Heather Duiker on Capturing the Sr. Ladies. Great playing by you both!!!!
It is with sad news that we have learned of the passing of long time member Ernie Smith. The family will be hosting a celebration of life on Thursday August 25th at 1pm in the clubhouse for family and friends. Muni Members are invited to come share their respects and stories with the family.

Saturday September 10th (SCC)/Sunday September 11th (MUNI)– Romeo Cup- The race for the 12 positions is getting tight as we head into the final 3 weeks of point availability. (Look for our team member announcements). Members and guest not playing in event are welcomed to come out and support our team on the 11th as we try to bring the cup back home.
This weekend we seen our Men’s and Sr. Men’s Club Championship. We saw 63 participants battle for their respective flights.

Muni Men’s Invitational– Congratulations to our Champion Chad Swartzentruber with a fantastic score of 66!!! The course was in unbelievable shape as it challenged the field, seeing only 3 player shoot under 72. Thank you so much to Don Moon who help put together a prize table with donations from local business that seen all 66 competitors leave with a prize, and Thank you to all the businesses that showed support for this amazing event. June saw events like our Smoke Cole Memorial back being hosted, and our first Music Patio night of the season. Congratulations to Willy Keller for winning the Gross category with a great round of 71 and to Cecil Matt for wining the Net category with a score of 62. We are still working on details for our next Music Patio night and will post in our upcoming events once finalized.
Upcoming Events
Muni Jr. Camp– July 4th- 8th- 8:30am till 12:30pm. Registered participants please be at the course for 8:30am each morning. The camp will consist of daily lessons followed by 9 holes of golf and a provided lunch before 12:30pm pick up.
Cobra Fitting Day– July 5th- 12pm-5pm- This will be our last on site fitting day of the year. Anyone interested in giving these amazing clubs a try please sign up in the pro shop.
Muni Invitational– July 16th- 11am Shotgun. Our Annual Men’s Invitational is back with an already stellar field registered. Enjoy 18 holes of golf, Steak dinner, and full prize table. Cost $40 for members, $65 for non-members. You won’t want to miss this great day.

Patio Music Night– Friday June 10th- Join Jack Demarest on the Muni Patio for a night of fantastic music on the guitar and piano 7pm to 9pm. Howling Moon will also be putting on a Steak and Shrimp BBQ dinner starting at 4pm. Cost is $20 for the meal and reservation is recommended to guarantee yourself a delicious meal.
Cobra Fit Day– Saturday June 11th- 9am to 2pm- Cobra returns to our range to help improve your game. Sign up in the pro shop and see how Cobra can help you take your game to the next level.
Smoke Cole Sr’s Tournament– Thursday June 23rd- 9am tee times. Our annual event in honor of long time Member Smoke Cole. register in the pro shop before June 17th.
Muni Invitational– Saturday July 16th- It’s Back!!! our annual Muni Invite. A great day with 18 holes, Steak meal and one of the last full prize table events around.

May Recap
Although it was a late start to the season and the very wet conditions left us without carts and the driving range early in May, the second half of the month has been spectacular spring weather for golf.
We seen our Muni Member Opening Scramble on May 14th, followed with a fabulous roast beef dinner from Winona and her staff and tons of great prizes won by our participants.
Our 2022 Ladies league has started with close to 90 ladies teeing it up on Tuesday nights. Men’s league is back and better then ever as teams battle for the Muni Cup and a spot on the Romeo Cup Team. League stats can be found here–> smgc-2022mensday.golfgenius.com
June Events
Muni Patio Music Nights return on Friday June 10th. Join us for live music on the patio from 7pm to 9:30pm by Jack Demarest. This is a night you wont want to miss!!!!
Cobra Fitting Day– Cobra returns for another fitting day on Saturday June 11th, 9am to 2pm. Contact the Pro shop to reserve your spot, while times last. Cobra has some of the most tech forward products in the industry with performance and feel that surprises every single person who tries their equipment.
