This past weekend we saw our Men’s and Sr. Men’s Club Championships. After an early morning storm Saturday, participants were able to take the course for day 1. Terry Adair lead the way with a 3 under 67, while Dan Adair and Dean Sharp stayed on his tail with rounds of even par 70.

Our Sr. Championship saw Dean Sharp take down the field with that even par 70, finding himself 4 shot ahead of second place finisher Ken Rielly shooting a score of 74.

Day 2 saw Terry keep up his stellar play posting a quick 33 on the front 9!! Allowing him to cruise to a 5 shot victory over 2nd place and brother Dan Adair (+3). Terry finished with a 71 on the day and -2 for the event to claim the title.

Our Ladies Club Championship is coming up this Saturday August 19th. Registration is now closed and tee times are up on the Chronogolf website and app. We are looking forward to a great day of golf, food, and fun.

Smoke Cole Results

Congratulations to tournament champion, Scott Bailey turning in the low gross score of 72.  Well done also to, Daryl Benjamin, with the lowest net score, 67, for the day

August is here and hopefully it is dry!! July was the month of rain with the Muni seeing over 300mm of rain.

The staff continue to do there best getting the course dry and back to our standards. As the puddling starts to disappear will do have dead spots from water sitting and the heat. We did our best to continually pump water but it just kept coming and at times we had no where to move it. If you find your ball in these areas please consider it ground under repair. You will also see these areas being seeded in the near future so please do your best to avoid these areas and allow them to grow back in.

Our Men’s/ Sr.’s and Ladies club championship sign up deadlines are coming soon. Anyone looking to play, please make sure to get signed up at the pro shop counter before these deadlines.

Smoke Cole Memorial Update

August 3 – Smoke Cole Tournament rescheduled date.

Players that did not sign up for the original July 13 date may sign up for the rescheduled day.  Sign up in the clubhouse by Sunday, July 30, 6 pm.  $20 cash must be submitted with sign up.

For those that signed up for the July 13 date and cannot play on the August 3 date then let Steve Nesbitt know at [email protected] and he will arrange a refund of the entry fee.

The table below shows players that signed up for the July 13 date.  We will go with the tee times as shown the best that we can with any new entries coming in and deletions of players that may have to drop out.

Wet July

In May and June we saw a combined rainfall total of 50mm. This July ( just18 days in) we have already seen 180mm!!! It has tested our new drainage to its fullest and thankfully we have done that work or we may of seen the course closed much longer and carts off the course until August. We hope this beautiful weather we have seen in the last few days continues and that Carts and the Range will be back in action today or tomorrow.

Muni Social Night- Live music is back on the Patio this Friday 6pm-9pm with Jack Demarest. Jack has visited the Muni before and wowed the crowd with his piano, Guitar and voice. Howling Moon will also be putting on a Smoked Roast beef with Shrimp and rice Pilaf for $25 includes Salad and desert bar. These are great nights and you don’t want to miss out.

GLAGS- Do to the rain out last Thursday, we will be hosting all the local Golf course superintendents on July 27th. This is a great chance for us to showcase out great course.

Smoke Cole Memorial- Due to the mass amounts of rain, the Smoke Cole has been rescheduled for August 3rd.

Men’s Club Championship/Sr Men’s Club Championship- Our Men’s Club Championship will be held on August 12th and 13th. Please sign up by August 9th in the Pro shop!! This will be a firm deadline date. Cost is $45 and includes a meal after Saturdays round and prizing following play Sunday.

Our Sr. Men’s will be hosted on Aug 12th Cost is $45 with meal and prizing following play Saturday. Players will have the option to play both the Men’s and Sr. Men’s for an additional $20.

Our Social night schedule has changed to accommodate some artist but is now finalized for the summer patio season. Please join us each social night on our patio for live music free of charge from 6pm to 9pm.

June 30th- Rod and Reba– Kick off the Canada day long weekend right with your favorite covers from Rod and Reba

July 14th- Jack Demarest– Playing both Piano and Guitar, Jack will leave you nothing but Satisfied and wanting to hear more.

August 25th- Jason Mercer– The London based Singer Song Writer with his latest release Nobody But You (available on all streaming platforms) will grace our patio with a great mix of covers and his own songs.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help with Anne Hathaway and Avon School
students students coming to the Muni for introduction to golf and lawn
bowling.  Dates and times are:

Monday, June 5 – 11:45 to 2:00            Tuesday, June 6 – 10:45 to
1:00 and 1:00 to 3:15        Monday, June 19 – 11:45 to 2:00

Help is needed on the putting practice surface and also on the practice
range.  3 or 4 people on each spot.  Sign up sheet is posted on the
outside bulletin board of the clubhouse or you can message Steve Nesbitt
