I have been asked by the Executive at the SLAAA winter golf to inform everyone that once again the Winter Golf at the Allman Arena is up and running. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9:30am to 1:00pm, Membership to the SLAAA is required and the daily rate is $1.00 per day.

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone has been enjoying their off season so far and I just have a few updates to pass along before the Holiday season begins!!!

I have had a few questions about times we will be open for 2019 membership purchases as Christmas gifts, and this season due to the high number of hall rentals, I am asking everyone who is interested to reach out to me at my email [email protected] and I will arrange a time to meet with you at clubhouse away from hall rental and make sure everyone who wishes to purchases the gift of golf has the chance to.

Lastly for any of you die hard golfers who love to hit balls in the winter, Pinnacle Field House has open 3 new hitting bays were balls can be hit for the low price of $5, and they are also almost complete a chipping and putting room for players who wish to keep their short game up to snuff. It will offer a very affordable place to keep your game in shape over the winter!!!

Hello Everyone

Sorry for the long gap between Muni Minutes as I had some website difficulties preventing me from being able to send Muni Minutes. The nice weather all but left us in October, and we have seen mostly cold and wet days not nice for golfing!! Lets face it 8 degrees feels like 3 doesn’t bring people to the course. With that being said I have decided that this Sunday Oct 28th will be the last day that the clubhouse will be open, I will leave the flags in as long as I can for anyone who wishes to walk and play after the 28th, but once the flags come out please stay off as the greens will be prep’d for winter. With the Oct 28th clubhouse closing date, it means that all lockers must be cleared out for the winter, as well as push carts removed from storage area and riding carts from compound by this date. I would personally like to thank everyone for another great year at the Muni, and I’m really looking forward to what next season brings as we continue to improve each year.  Continue to check for Muni Minute updates in the off season for info on early membership sales and I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Hello Everyone

This week marks the end of our leagues for the season at the Muni!! I would like to take the time to thank everyone who participated in these leagues and helped make all of them a success. With that being said there is still plenty of good weather and golf season left, and I just thought I would pass along some final updates. We are currently in our Pay now Play now membership promotion for 2019, so if you know anyone who wants some free golf and also is looking to join the Muni in 2019 this is a great opportunity to save. We will be aerating our greens in the near future as it is a must do practice in the turf world, helping keep our greens in as great of shape as possible. It was scheduled on calendar to happen on Tuesday Sept 25th but do to equipment needs and availability we will be moving that date to Thursday Sept 27th instead. The course and range will remain closed that day but will be back open for play on Friday. October will also bring things like our Members club closing and our moved Annual General Meeting, with it’s new moved date, so please continue to check info boards in clubhouse for events around the course.

Lastly I would like to congratulate the SCC on there Romeo Cup victory this weekend as 12 players from each team went head to head in a Ryder cup style match. Our players from the Muni battled hard but came up just short in a 14 to 10 loss, as the SCC won the title for the first time in 6 years.

It is a sad sad day 🙁 As I sit here soaking wet after getting caught out on the course trying my best to get it ready or even playable for tonight’s men’s night, I’ve had to make the decision that this last big rain has the course completely unplayable and with more coming on the radar and the chances of it even drying up enough for walkers is slim to none that Men’s night will have to be canceled for the week!!! Our steak night will be bumped to next weeks meal and we will just have a 9 week second half… Please follow our facebook page for details on the course, carts, and range.

Hello Everyone

Just a quick update on August. Last weekend we saw 38 players play in our Club Championship, Congratulations to Kent McPherson on winning!!!

Our Jr. Program is slowing winding down for the season with only 2 weeks remaining, and the last week also playing host to our Jr. Club Championship. Sign up is on the information board and play is open to any Jr. Members in the listed age groups. Also please visit the Jr. Program link on website for info on where our Jr. Program is moving in the future or how we can try to keep it the same!!!

Lastly on Thursday August 16th, we will be doing some much needed work to our driveway, this means that unfortunately the driveway will be closed for a period of time. The course will remain open but alternative parking will need to be found. We apologize for any inconvenience as we continue to improve our course

Just a quick reminder that today is the last day to sign up and pay for the Men’s club championship this Saturday and Sunday, late entries will NOT be accepted. So if you wish to play please make your way into the clubhouse prior to closing today!! Also please keep an eye on the men’s day blog and Facebook for what we are doing with men’s night with all this rain, as most likely the course will be extremely wet and carts could be a struggle.

What a whirl wind July, I still cant believe that it is August already!! July saw many things happen at the course with the start of our Jr. Program, Our Men’s Invitational, Sr Club Championship and even a Wedding. Congratulations to Craig Swartzentruber on winning the Sr. Club, and to Spencer and Tressa on your Wedding, Thank you so much for choosing the Muni to host your special day. We have also seen the opening of our new driving range tee and hitting mats, and the slow growth of the lawn bowling green ( I don’t recommend trying to grow grass in July when its 40 and not raining) but it is slowing coming along.

August brings more events to the Muni and I thought I better send out a reminder of these dates. Our Jr. Program will see 3 more dates till its completion date on Monday Aug 27th. Please remember that this Monday Aug 6th there will not be a Jr. Day due to the Holiday. Our Men’s and Ladies Club Championships will take place in August with details and sign up sheets on info board in clubhouse, along with another 9 and dine social night.

I hope to see lots of people out at these events, and here’s to hoping August doesn’t fly by like July.
